With an ester content ranging from 200 to 400 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol, this expression belongs to the LROK (Light Rum Over Kelly) category, established in 1952 by the Hampden Distillery.
Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, it takes you on a sensory journey where the initial smoothness gradually transitions into bolder, more intense, and mineral-driven notes.
Throughout the experience, vibrant fruit sequences elegantly connect the three stages of tasting, creating a harmonious and captivating progression.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Refined and sophisticated. Aromas of beeswax, candied fruits (pear, mirabelle plum), and camphor create a vibrant and dynamic olfactory journey. As it opens up, intoxicating scents of geranium, hyacinth, and iris gracefully fill the air, adding a layer of floral elegance.
Palate: Rich and well-structured. The flavor profile is bold, with prominent notes of licorice and chocolate. Intense undertones of petroleum and smoked bacon add a deep, empyreumatic character, while a delightful fruity smoothness (pineapple, banana) keeps the palate balanced and inviting.
Finish: Long and powerful. The experience unfolds with dense notes of sugar cane, warm brown sugar, and highly concentrated asphalt. As it evolves, new layers of candied fruits (kiwi, quince, apricot) emerge, imparting a velvety softness to a finish that is unmistakably Hampden in character.
