The Glendronach distillery was acquired in 2016 by Brown-Forman, the parent company of Jack Daniel’s. It features nine larch washbacks, two wash stills with a capacity of 13,500 liters each, and two spirit stills holding 6,800 liters each. Following the notable single casks #7274 and #7099 from the À la Conquête des Origines and Antipodes collections—both distilled in 1993—this 1994 vintage stands out for its exceptional vigor and evocative character, reminiscent of its rich chocolatey notes.

Tasting Notes

Color: Deep old gold with copper highlights.

Nose: Luxuriously rich and smooth. Bursting with fruity freshness (orange, mango), it unveils a sophisticated blend of precious wood, wax, and varnish. With time, notes of licorice and chocolate grow more pronounced, complemented by luscious hints of blood orange and apricot.

Palate: Vibrant, precise, and harmoniously balanced. The opening reveals a saline touch, fruity tones (mandarin pulp), and spicy accents (star anise, cardamom) layered with licorice. The mid-palate transitions to complex tertiary flavors, including cep mushroom and tar, infused with subtle herbal nuances of verbena, thyme, and sage.

Finish: Elegantly long and silky. The finish begins with a delicate layer of salted butter caramel and develops mineral (slate), herbaceous (clover), and smoky (pipe tobacco) qualities. In its final stages, red and black fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant) emerge, enhancing its remarkable complexity.
