Established in 1780, the Monymusk-Clarendon Distillery is a key member of the National Rums of Jamaica.

Equipped with a triple column for crafting light rums, it also produces heavy rums using two double-retort pot stills, with the ester content of the most robust expressions reaching up to 1500 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol.

This particular expression, classified under the MBS category, boasts an ester content ranging from 10 to 60 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol.

Its remarkably long aromatic and flavor profile evolves over time, showcasing scents and flavors of precious woods and herbal infusions (rosemary, thyme, oregano), lending it remarkable depth and vibrancy.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Generous and refined. The aromatic profile opens with apricot, creamy coconut, and rich vanilla, soon transitioning to floral notes (iris, genista), honeyed tones (geranium), and a medicinal hint (balm). As it breathes, noble spices (cardamom, ginger) and a subtle layer of licorice emerge, enriching the olfactory experience.

Palate: Lively and sophisticated. Exotic flavors of pineapple and ripe banana dominate, complemented by delicate, fibrous tannins reminiscent of sugar cane. Over time, tangy candied citrus (lemon, grapefruit) infuses the palate with their zesty juices.

Finish: Long and intricate. A refined licorice stick note leads into a finish reminiscent of rye whiskey. With a pleasing root-like bitterness (gentian) and a mouthwatering quality, it reveals layers of praline and tobacco. The indulgent retro-olfaction invites you to savor the lingering warmth of freshly cut sugar cane.
