Founded in 1881 by William Robertson and brothers William and James Greenless, Bunnahabhain began production in January 1883. The distillery expanded from two to four stills in 1963 but experienced a brief closure between 1982 and 1984.

This expression captures the essence of Bunnahabhain, evolving through peaty, smoky, animalistic, and iodine-rich profiles, while seamlessly incorporating balanced layers of spice, chocolate, and fruit.

The Artist Collective 7.0 series features labels illustrated by German visual artist Katrin Bremermann, known for her exploration of form, proportion, rhythm, and structure. This collaboration, facilitated by the Beaux Arts Institute, exemplifies innovation in art partnerships. The label of this Bunnahabhain Staoisha 2014 Aged 9 Years is adorned with Bremermann’s artwork No. 2259.

Tasting Notes

Color: Golden yellow.

Nose: Full and rich. The opening reveals oily aromas of intense peat, sea spray, and salt. As it breathes, the profile deepens with chocolatey, roasted, and lightly camphorated notes, culminating in a hint of Sichuan pepper.

Palate: Dynamic and creamy. Waves of smoke, sleet, and rich peat dominate the initial flavor burst, with dense layers of peat collapsing across the palate. A refreshing touch of salinity enhances the experience.

Finish: Long and indulgent. Sooty undertones give way to candied fruits like pear, apple, and pineapple, intertwined with malted barley grains. Subtle chocolatey and animalistic hints (meat, fish) emerge, glowing softly with ember-like warmth.
