Ben Nevis 10 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Ben Nevis Distillery, located at Fort William, near the foot of Scotland's highest mountain. This whisky is matured for a minimum of 10 years in oak casks, imparting a rich and complex flavor profile. It features notes of malt, oak, and dried fruit, with hints of spice and a subtle smoky finish. Bottled at 46% ABV, Ben Nevis 10 Year Old is non-chill filtered and retains its natural color, offering whisky enthusiasts an authentic and robust Highland experience.

Ben Nevis's core range is limited to mostly the 10 year old bottling and the occasional, cask strength editions as well as distillery editions. But this expression is more than enough to encapsulate what the distillery is capable of.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Full-flavoured, it is characterised by the mellowness of malted barley. It develops notes of ripe fruit (plum) and tangy sweets.

Palate: Powerful and smooth, it confirms the nose. It gradually reveals a herbaceous and spicy (clove) character.

Finish: Wonderfully long on the palate, it emerges dry. It develops salty (iodised) notes.

Serving Suggestions
First things first, be comfortable, relaxed and free from distractions. Pour a healthy amount (15-25ml) into a nosing glass (e.g., glencairn) and let it sit for a while. We recommend a minute of resting in the glass for every year in the cask. Otherwise, let it settle down for 5-10 minutes at least.

Help yourself to a 'warm up dram' in the meantime - something simple to open up the palate. When ready, start nosing the spirit, followed by sipping it (noting how it arrives on your palate and its development), and finally the finish. Take your time to get to know the spirit, noting its expression, character, depth, complexity and flavours. These can all change with adding drops of water so play around to find different sides of the spirit and identity a personal sweet spot for yourself!

But always remember, the best way to drink it is the way you like it!
