Established in 1884, the Beenleigh Distillery sits on the shores of the Albert River in Southeast Queensland.
It crafts molasses rum using sugar cane processed by Australia's last privately-owned mill, the Rocky Point Sugar Mill. The distillation process takes place in a wooden pot still of the Vat Still variety.
Matured in bourbon casks, this limited-edition release is a testament to perfect harmony.
Bursting with fruity notes, rich vanilla, and honeyed sweetness, complemented by gentle spices and a refreshing finish, its aromatic and flavor profile exudes a quiet elegance best described as utterly charming.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh and delicate. The aroma is richly fruity (banana, pear, mirabelle plum), showcasing a harmonious and full-bodied character. Subtle hints of honey and wax add a soft, velvety touch. Over time, it develops vanilla, liqueur-like (cane sugar), and roasted nuances (pineapple).
Palate: Vibrant yet smooth. Notes of candied citrus (lemon, grapefruit), white peaches, and zucchini fritters create a beautifully balanced flavor profile. Gentle spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg) gradually infuse the palate, adding depth and warmth.
Finish: Long and airy. A powdery texture (ginger, rice, semolina) leads into delightful flavors of Williams pear and Golden apple. The finish transitions to the fresh, sweet essence of cut sugar cane. The retro-olfaction alternates between indulgent sweetness and herbal tones (pipe tobacco).
